Little Pimmit Run creates a vibrant and beautiful habitat in Arlington County, Virginia.
The Run arises above historic Rock Spring, and joining with other streams cascades into the Potomac River in the gorge just south of Chain Bridge.
Bound by established residential properties and public spaces, Little Pimmitt carves out an green open space, home to fox, deer, Piliated Woodpeckers, Great Blue Herons, Kingfishers, several kinds of hawks, Barn Owls , Northern Screech Owls, mallard ducks and a family of wood ducks. The stream supports supports a range fo aquatic life--beavers, dragon flies, snakes, salamanders, frogs, crayfish, water skimmers, several species of fish and the American eel-- recently evaluated for endangered species designation.
